sensorimotor therapy
Sensorimotor psychotherapy is a body centered / somatic therapy that offers techniques that work directly with the physiological elements of trauma. It involves tracking, naming, and safely exploring trauma-related somatic activation, aiming to replace a traumatized and as a result fragmented sense of self by a restored, resourceful sense of self.
(From the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute website) It utilizes principles of mindfulness, using attention and awareness in a present centered and nonjudgmental manner, for tracking and releasing physical sensations in the body.
