gestalt therapy

The Gestalt approach is based on a holistic and relational worldview of the universe in general, and of humans in particular. A holistic understanding of humans includes the functioning of their physical bodies, emotions, thoughts, culture and social expressions in relation to their environment each impacting one another. Since we live through moving, posturing, sensing and expressing as much as thinking, a holistic approach cannot ignore the fundamental physical nature of the person when the aim is to heal the self in its entirety. Some Gestalt concepts that we might work with include “Unfinished Business”, “Cycle of Experience”, “Unit of Work”, “Experiment”, “Figure and Ground”, “Relational Field”, and “The Paradoxical Theory of Change”.
